PITBULL CANCELS PHOENIX SHOW AS A PROTEST OF THE NEW IMMIGRATION LAW

Pitbull announced that he has canceled his May 31st show in Phoenix, Arizona in protest of the state’s controversial immigration law. Shakira recently went to Phoenix to talk to legislators about the law and Cypress Hill canceled a show in Tucson last week. Arizona’s controversial legislation states that officials and agencies on the state and local levels can make “a reasonable attempt to determine the immigration status of a person” if they come into contact with someone they have “reasonable suspicion” to believe is an illegal alien.
PITBULL’S TWEET: “I am canceling my concert in Phoenix on May 31. How is the country we enjoy and love bcuz of its human rights, freedom, opportunity and that has been built by immigrants, now start 2 deny them? It is contradicting 2 everything the USA stands 4.”

Wylcef Jean is reportedly scheduled to perform at the 2010 Latin GRAMMY Awards. Jim Jones recently revealed he will be teaching a course on entertainment business for New York City kids. Jones told sat down with Sirius radio host Angela Yee and said, “We finally got the teaching thing cleared with the Board of Ed so I should be teaching a curriculum once a week for 8 weeks before the school year is over.” Some of the topics Jones will cover include promotions, publicity, marketing, management as well as legal matters
SHAKIRA TO SING THEME FOR WORLD CUP

It’s official – Shakira will be singing the theme song for the 2010 World Cup. The Columbian pop star will be teaming up with South African band Freshlyground for the tune “Time For Africa,” which of course, is where the soccer tournament is taking place. According to the Associated Press, Shakira and the band will be performing it at the opening ceremony, and also right before the final game.

According to MSNBC, Jay-Z and his 40/40 club business partner Juan Perez have recently filed a hefty lawsuit against Boston Red Sox player, David Ortiz. The mogul is seeking five-million dollars worth of damages from the first baseman for running a Web site and a Dominican Republic nightclub called Forty/Forty. Since this infringes upon Hov’s 40/40 trademark, the rapper is also demanding that Ortiz “forfeit” the use of the name.
According to court documents, “David Ortiz is fully aware of Plaintiff’s Manhattan 40/40 club, since he had been a patron there on several occasions before he opened his Infringing Forty/Forty club
NOTORIOUS B.I.G WRONGFUL DEATH SUIT DROPPED

We’ve just learned that a federal judge has reportedly dismissed the wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles over the death of rapper Notorious B.I.G. After the beloved emcee was gunned down in March of 1997, members of his family believed Suge Knight conspired on Big’s assassination and used the assistance of LAPD officers to do so. Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, has fought hard to find out who killed her 24-year-old son, but it looks like her efforts were in vein. The rapper’s family battled in court for “nearly eight years” and is now walking away with nothing.
